What is The AIM Principal and How Does It Apply to Your New Internet Business?

Before discussing the application of AIM to the new or even the ongoing internet business, it’s important first to know what the Aim Principle is and the purpose behind it. AIM is an acronym for Automation, Integration and Monetization. This concept was developed over a period of months with the intent of finding a simple solution for the new internet business. As explained in my new eBook, “The Internet Trifecta, (Get it for Free by Completing The Form to the Right) the key to success in starting a new internet business is to:

  1. Find proven strategies and applications.
  2. Utilize wherever possible Free, or almost free, applications.
  3. Make sure that these applications are simple to setup and easy to use.
  4. Find applications with adequate support services.
  5. And then to apply the Aim Principle within this context.

AIM is based on the utilization of three of the most widely used apps today; WordPress, Twitter and YouTube.

The Components of The Aim Principle As They Apply to the New Internet Business

Let’s talk first about the importance of each of the three applications involved in the Aim Principle and How they Apply TO the New Internet Business.

  • WordPress – In order to build a new internet business you need an internet presence in the form of a website or blog. I would suggest that today blogs have taken over as the instrument of choice for most new businesses. They are very cost effective, easy to setup and easy to maintain. WordPress, my blog app of choice, has particular power because of its open source structure and the numerous plug-ins (most free, some at very low cost) available to suit almost any business model.
  • YouTube – Over 1 billion videos are viewed on YouTube almost daily. Video has taken over the mass market and has captured the needs of almost every kind of business. Fortune 500 companies are using video as one of their main modes of marketing knowing that the market today is far more visually oriented. This will only increase as more and more mobile users use their smartphones for almost every day to day activity.
  • Twitter – Do you want to reach thousands of targeted leads in a matter of seconds? Would you like to target these leads by location? Would you like to do this with an audience of potentially millions. Although there are other social networks  you can use such as Facebook, Twitter right now has some great advantages as they relate to the Aim Principle.

The Aim Principle as briefly mentioned has three components; each of which is critical to the success of a new internet business.

  • A – Automation – Running an online business can be a daunting task. For example, imagine if  you had to retype each and every post you made on your blog individually and then send it to over 50 social networks, one at a time. The problem with most new internet business owners is that they get started, begin to implement one of a number of strategies and then fall back due to the burdensome amount of work involved in marketing their new business. Automation is a key to success. Now imagine if each and every time you write a post to your blog it automatically gets posted on Twitter with no additional effort on your part.
  • I – Integration – Each of the three components of The Internet Trifecta working alone have great power. However, when you connect the three components together as a well structured unit, the power increases many times over. For example, just placing your video on YouTube without integrating it the other components, most likely will result in it just getting lost in a sea of millions of other videos. Using some of the automatic and integration techniques available today, you can use the power of YouTube to market your new internet business far more effectively, maximizing the true benefits of video marketing.
  • M – Monetization – When thinking about the design of The Internet Trifecta I obviously had to consider using free applications that also provided easy ways to provide revenue. This revenue production had to come not necessarily from the individual apps themselves, although that can be done, but rather by the automation and integration of the three processes. Relying on just one source of income can become a disaster for the new internet business should that source dry up. Multiple sources of revenue, a funnel of income streams, is another key to success on the web.

Let’s use a simple example to drive this point home. You are starting a new online business selling dog collars. You first develop a blog geared to the dog collar business. You set up a Twitter account with a branded dog collar scheme and profile. You then begin videoing all kinds of puppies wearing a wide variety of dog collars. Within the videos, when placed on YouTube, you not only mention your blog and its URL but you actually print the url on the video. You use some of the new automation tools to maximize the views of your video, to obtain as many friends and subscribers to your new YouTube channel as possible and you start getting the message about your new and amazing dog collars to all of your followers, subscribers and friends.

Back to you blog….

On your blog you have plug-ins, buttons, widgets and other devices to integrate each and every post with not only your Twitter account but with a wide range of social networks as well, with just the click of one button. (Note: As your business grows you certainly can add additional social networks to the Trifecta. It’s just as starting out you need to focus and pay attention to the small details. Spreading your self too thin is a major issue with new internet business owners enthusiastic to grow their businesses as rapidly as possible)

You the can monetize your blog with a wide range of affiliate products (See our post on Affiliate Marketing) or products of your own such as Diamond Encrusted Dog Collars etc. Once again, the power of WordPress is in its plug-ins. Free shopping cart plug-ins are available just in case you want to start selling your dog collar directly from your own blog rather than sending them to an affiliate site.

This is only a simple example of the Internet Trifecta. As you start to think a bit about your new internet business keep these ideas in mind and you’ll be on your way to a great and successful start.
